Product Vision / Business Case

The product vision describes in compact form …

  • for which users, in which markets the product is intended,
  • which are the basic requirements and standards
  • what are the main functions of the product
  • how the product fits into the application context and what interfaces it has with surrounding systems.

There are different types of templates for this purpose, all of which serve, on the one hand, not to forget important things, and, on the other hand, to make the product vision comparable with other product visions by means of a few attributes. Initially, it is mainly about evaluating how attractive the described product is for the users and the organization in order to derive a priority for implementation. This can be achieved by a few metrics, in the simplest case by the quotient of value and effort. The representation via the Upswing-Gravity-Field allows an overview of the priorities.
