In order to turn the P4 framework with its basic roles, artifacts, and meetings/events into an “working process of the organization,” additional elements must be added, especially if specific standards and regulations must be complied with. This applies in particular to the regulated development and production of safety-related systems. The P4 framework provides templates for DoDs and standard agendas for meetings/events for this purpose.
Through so-called “process mapping,” the P4 framework can fulfill several different process norms and standards simultaneously without increasing complexity at the working level.

- integrating the required elements into the work process at the right points, and
- extensive automation.
